        School of Nuclear Science and Engineering(SNSE) was established in 2005 and was integrated as a specialized nuclear science and engineering school in 2016. It has three departments: Department of Nuclear Engineering and Technology, Department of Radiation Protection and Nuclear security, and Department of Nuclear Chemistry and Fuel Engineering. It is now an important talent base for Nuclear Fuel Cycle in China. The school offers fivemaster programs in Nuclear Science and Engineering (rated as the demonstrative master's degree program and high-level discipline of Jiangxi Province and the special discipline of National Defense Science and Technology Bureau), Nuclear Energy Science and Engineering, Nuclear Technology and Applications, Radiation Protection and Environmental Protection, and Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Materials. There are three bachelor programs in Nuclear Engineering and Technology, Radiation Protection and Nuclear security, and Nuclear Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Fuel Engineering. We have the Research Center on Application Engineering of Nuclear Technology of Ministry of Education, the Nuclear Engineering Technology Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of Jiangxi Province, and the Nuclear Radiation Detection Engineering Center of Jiangxi Province.


        Staff

        Our school has a well-experienced teaching and research team of 48 excellent researchers and instructors. 85% of them possess doctorate degrees and some of the professors have played important roles in some research institutes. Our school is devoted to producing excellent graduates who are ready to contribute to their fields.


        Talent Cultivation

        Driven by the reform of education and quality engineering projects, we actively carry out the cultivation of applied talents and innovative entrepreneurship education under the guidance and support of some government and industrial institutions, such as the Teaching Guiding Committee of Nuclear Engineering Specialty of Ministry of Education. Under the development of higher education, we have explored new disciplines of Nuclear Engineering Specialty, constructed the comprehensive evaluation system of Nuclear Engineering Specialty in local colleges and universities, and established the quantitative analysis and evaluation method for students’ curriculum learning. We have the National Characteristic Specialty, the Education and Training Program for Excellent Engineers of the Ministry of Education, and the Demonstration Projects of National Virtual Simulation Experiment Teaching. The undergraduate program of the Nuclear Engineering and Technology has passed the International Engineering Education Certification.


        Facilities

        Nuclear Engineering Technology Experimental Teaching Center is the only experimental teaching center for the talent cultivation in the fields of nuclear energy and technology in Jiangxi province. The center has 14 laboratories with an area of 1100 m2 and assets valued at 15 million Yuan. These assets mainly serve the undergraduates and postgraduates in our school. Students here can conduct over 120 types of experiments covering development of nuclear energy engineering simulation software, nuclear electronics signal data processing, research and development of intelligent radiation instrument. The center also works as the base for College Students Nuclear Technological Innovation and provincial science popularization education. Through the cooperation between the industry and the school, we have founded 12 innovative and application-oriented nuclear science and engineering practical teaching bases.


        Research

        Researchers in the school have undertaken many projects and made manyachievements, most of which are funded by Chinese National Programs for Fundamental Research and Development, National High-Tech Research and Development Program of China, and National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Based on these projects, we now own two provincial advancedscience and technology innovation teams, Nuclear Energy Safety and Radiation Monitoring Technology and Instruments team andNuclear Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Fuel Engineering team. Based on the prominent achievements in these research studies , we have received the provincial and ministerial Science and Technology Awardsover 10 times.


        International Exchange

        Our school takes part in international exchange and cooperation with leading universities in America and Europe by sending teachers to participate in research training and taking parting in the meetings and activities of the InternationalAtomicEnergyAgency (IAEA). More than 30 teachers in our school have participated in international research training programs, like uranium resource exploration and mine environment control technology training in the Czech Republic. Additionally, our teachers take part in international academic conferences by demonstrating our research studies in the application of international nuclear energy and technology as well as reporting experience on talent cultivation of nuclear science and engineering.  


        Achievements

        Upon entering the workforce, our students meet the demands of the field of nuclear engineering industry. Some other graduates pursue their postgraduate study in some first-tier universities, like Tsinghua University orUniversity of Science and Technology of China.
